Remedial & Repairs

STRUCTURAL INVESTIGATIONS AND REPAIRS

Clients come to us with a variety of structural problems. What we find interesting is to find the best solution for the building / structure, whilst retaining as much of the original as possible, rather than demolishing and starting from scratch

Brick Work Repairs

In this cemetery in London, we looked at the structure integrity of the surrounding brick wall, to help draw up a plan that would maintain and preserve the walls.

Time and the great British weather mean sometimes remedial and repair work needs to be carried out on cross-laminated timber (CLT) or OSB structural elements of buildings which have been compromised by water penetration causing wet rot.  We work with clients with the objective of minimal intervention, repairing what can be made good and replacing where necessary

Timber Strengthening & remedial

For this project we designed a steel frame to support an existing timber roof, and proposed suspended first floor in an existing building.

This included steel frame layout, analysis and checking of vibration characteristics, designing steel connectors, designing timber rafters and floor joists, preparing construction drawing and structural calculations.

CLADDING FIXING

When cladding needs to be replaced on a building for reasons such as safety or aesthetics, it's important to ascertain that the existing structure can hold the weight of the new cladding, and that the fixings used will hold the new cladding in place, we have become experts in assisting with the necessary checks and calculations

SCAFFOLDING LOADS

When work needs to be carried out on a building or structure that requires temporary scaffolding, calculations are needed to check the additional loads on the structure caused by the scaffolding and subsequent loads on the supporting ground.
